From the Classroom to the Page

Hi, I'm Clint Chalmers, a New Zealand author and former teacher with more than 40 years of classroom experience.

For four decades, I worked with children from all walks of life and learned something important early on: when a story is fun, playful, and full of heart, kids connect with it. That is the kind of book I love creating.

Today, I write rhyming books, storybooks, activity books, and creative titles designed to spark imagination, laughter, and curiosity. My aim is simple: I want to create books that children enjoy reading and that parents and grandparents feel good about giving.

Alongside writing, I also use modern illustration tools to help bring my ideas to life. Every book begins with the same thing: a playful idea, a love of language, and the hope of creating something memorable for young readers.

When I'm not writing, I'm usually turning wood on my lathe, tinkering with computers, or getting far too invested in the cricket.

I live in Carterton, New Zealand, and I'm the founder of Taika Publishing, named after our grandson. It's my way of building a world of stories, creativity, and wonder for children here in New Zealand and beyond.
